Tasnim joined Turning Point’s team in December 2024.
She briefly served as a part-time Supervisor/Consultant for the Direct Services Program at Turning Point before assuming her current role. Prior to joining Turning Point, Tasnim worked at Queens Legal Services as a Staff Social Worker since 2018, working primarily with the Family Law and Immigration units. Through her practice there, she served many South Asian and Muslim women, all of whom were survivors of domestic violence and experienced multiple forms of trauma, while being engaged in family court litigation or immigration cases. Additionally, Tasnim created and co-facilitated a support group there designed to provide a safe space for South Asian and Muslim clients to discuss and learn about active or potential legal cases, while viewing the realities of the civil legal field through a cultural lens.
Tasnim has an LMSW and is licensed to practice in New York. She has extensive clinical training and experience in conducting assessments and interventions with survivors of trauma and abuse, as well as providing case management, clinical counseling, crisis intervention and other supportive services to crime victims, immigrant families and individuals who experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Tasnim received her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University, and her dual Bachelor’s in Political Science and Economics from City College, City University of New York.
